Kodi v20.5

Kodi is a free and open-source software media player and digital media entertainment center that has won several awards. It enables users to play and see most streaming media from the Internet, including videos, music, podcasts, and videos, as well as any standard digital media files from local and network storage media, or TV gateway viewers. Kodi runs on the majority of prominent CPU architectures and is available as a native software for Android, Linux, BSD, macOS, iOS, tvOS, and Windows.

Kodi, a non-profit project founded in 2003 by a group of like-minded programmers and managed by the XBMC Foundation, was launched as a multi-platform home-theater PC (HTPC) application that has evolved into a multi-purpose technological convergence platform. It has been translated into over 70 languages by over 500 software engineers and 100+ translators. Kodi's gorgeous UI and sophisticated skinning engine make it an excellent complement for HTPCs and home cinemas with a remote control. It performs admirably as a conventional media player program for PCs.

Few things Kodi excels at

Music

The Music Library is another significant feature of Kodi. You may add files to the library from your local hard drive or from network storage. There's no need to be concerned about finding the appropriate music at the right time. By preserving information in music file ID meta tags such as title, artist, album, release year, genre, and popularity, the music library may be expanded. Album covers and fan art backdrops are downloaded automatically and presented as background wallpapers. Your music collection has never looked this good!

Video

The Video Library is an important aspect of Kodi. You can add files to the library from your local hard drive or from network storage. It can also access any DVD-Video movies stored in ISO and IMG DVD images or DVD-Video (IFO/VOB/BUP) images (even directly from uncompressed RAR and ZIP archives), from either local hard drive storage or network-share storage, and has the ability to pause and play on the fly. The library mode organizes video material by video file metadata, such as movies and TV series. Users can gain access to this data using scrapers and nfo files. Users may also explore video material by genre, title, year, actors, and directors in the library mode.

Digital picture/image display

Kodi handles all popular digital picture/image formats, including panning/zooming and slideshows with the Ken Burns effect, using the CxImage open-source library code. XBMC (Xbox Media Center) can read CBZ (ZIP) and CBR (RAR) comic book archive files, allowing users to view/read, browse, and magnify comic book page pictures without first uncompressing them.

Live TV & TV Shows

Use the app to watch free live TV whenever you want. Kodi has native Live TV with EPG and DVR support, as well as a PVR frontend GUI. With PVR Client Addons for common PVR backends, it allows video capture and playback to and from a hard disk drive. These add-ons can be installed independently as Kodi plugins. Please note that you cannot use Kodi Live TV addons just anywhere in the world. Check your local jurisdictions whether you can legally stream online media content with Kodi.

There's more!

Kodi is the ideal media center software. It can play practically every type of media and looks beautiful while doing so! These are just a few more areas in which Kodi shines,

Addons

Third-party developers can create features for Kodi that augment it with a myriad of add-ons. Addons for music and video streaming plugins for online sources, screensavers, skins and themes, visualizations, weather predictions, web interfaces, web scrapers, widget scripts, and more are created by developers. There are many additional Plugins and scripts for Kodi that will increase its functionality. Currently, available plugin scripts include Internet-TV and movie-trailer browsers, YouTube, Internet-radio stations, Flickr, instant messaging, P2P file-sharing downloaders (BitTorrent), IRC, and casual games.

Kodi supports a wide range of popular music, video, and picture formats, as well as playlists, audio visualizations, slideshows, weather forecasting, and third-party plugins. Don't worry, Kodi supports almost every comment file format in the world. Kodi allows you to search for video, music, and picture files on your local drive, network file system (NFS), Windows network (SMB), Zerocof browser, and you can network location.

Kodi Foundation Remote Controls

Kodi supports hundreds of remote controllers, CEC-compatible TVs, and new Smartphone and Tablet Apps, allowing you to control your media the way you choose. We offer software-based remote controls for Android and iOS. Like Kodi™ itself, both official remotes are free and open-source software and may be found in the Kodi Downloads area.

Make Kodi better

The Kodi Foundation's products are designed and developed by users. There are no high-paid developers or low-wage support staff available to take your call. There are only users who have recognized and sought to address a problem. This means that the Kodi Foundation will always need the assistance of people like you. You can help to improve Kodi by becoming engaged.,

  • Coding - Developers can enhance Kodi Foundation's technology by introducing new features, reducing complexity, and speeding up development, with a primarily Python and XML-based code base.
